There’s really no bad time for a Disneyland® Resort vacation. But fall? Fall is hard to beat.

The summer crowds begin to shift, Anaheim starts to cool down, pumpkins take over Main Street, U.S.A., and some of your favorite attractions get a Halloween makeover. Add seasonal treats, special events, and plenty of reasons to stay after dark, and September and October can be an incredible time to plan a trip.

If you’re considering a trip to Disneyland® Resort in fall, here’s why we think the season deserves a spot near the top of your travel list.

1. You May Find a Little More Breathing Room on the Right Days

Let’s start with an important caveat: fall at Disneyland® Resort isn’t exactly a secret.

Halloween Time is incredibly popular, and weekends and special event dates can still be busy. But once summer vacations end and kids head back to school, travelers who have some flexibility may be able to take advantage of weekday visits outside of the busiest periods.

Our advice? Don’t choose your dates based on the assumption that the parks will be empty. Instead, look at the Disneyland® Resort calendar, compare ticket pricing and event dates, and consider a midweek stay if your schedule allows.

A Tuesday in September can feel very different from the Saturday before Halloween.

2. Halloween Time Completely Changes the Atmosphere

If you’ve only experienced Disneyland® Resort during another time of year, Halloween Time gives you a great excuse to come back.

Halloween Time at the Disneyland® Resort runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, bringing seasonal décor, entertainment, food, merchandise, and attraction overlays throughout the Resort.

Disneyland® Park gets into the spirit with the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, where hundreds of pumpkins fill Main Street, U.S.A. — including the giant Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern that practically demands a photo.

Disney Characters get in on the fun, too, appearing in festive Halloween attire throughout the season.

And once the sun goes down? Everything feels a little different.

3. Some Favorite Attractions Get a Halloween Twist

Fall doesn’t just change how Disneyland® Resort looks. It changes some of the experiences, too.

At Disneyland® Park, Haunted Mansion Holiday brings together the worlds of the Haunted Mansion and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas for its seasonal transformation.

Over at Disney California Adventure® Park, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark takes over later in the day with a Halloween storyline featuring Rocket, Groot, and some creatures you probably don’t want to meet in a dark hallway.

Cars Land also gets its Haul-O-Ween transformation, complete with seasonal touches and experiences like Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree.

If you’ve ridden these attractions during a regular visit, that’s part of the fun. They feel familiar — but not quite the same.

4. Oogie Boogie Bash Makes Fall Even More Fun

For families and serious Halloween fans, there’s another event worth knowing about.

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party returns to Disney California Adventure® Park on select nights from August 18 through October 31, 2026.

It’s a separately ticketed, after-hours event featuring Halloween entertainment, Disney Characters, immersive treat trails and plenty of opportunities to dress up. And yes, adults can get into the costume fun too; just make sure you review the costume guidelines from Disney before planning your look.

One important planning tip: check Oogie Boogie Bash dates before choosing your park days. Disney California Adventure® Park has adjusted operating hours on event nights, so knowing the schedule ahead of time can help you decide which park makes the most sense each day.

5. Fall at Disneyland® Resort Is About More Than Halloween

One of our favorite things about this season is that Halloween isn’t the only celebration happening.

Plaza de la Familia runs August 21 through November 2, 2026, at Disney California Adventure® Park, celebrating Día de los Muertos and the everlasting bonds of family.

At Paradise Gardens Park, you’ll find experiences inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco, including live storytelling and music, a memory wall where Guests can honor loved ones, mariachi performances, and seasonal food.

It’s colorful, heartfelt, and a wonderful addition to a fall park day — especially if you’re traveling with multiple generations.

6. The Seasonal Food Is Half the Fun

Come hungry.

Part of the fun of visiting Disneyland® Resort in fall is seeing what shows up on the seasonal menus. Halloween brings limited-time snacks, desserts, drinks, and savory dishes throughout both parks.

And these aren’t just a pumpkin-shaped cookie slapped onto the regular menu.

Disney goes all in.

If food is a big part of your trips, check the Disneyland® Resort app before and during your visit to see what’s available. You can also use mobile ordering for participating locations, which is especially helpful when you’d rather spend your afternoon riding attractions than standing in another line.

Our strategy? Pick a few must-try treats ahead of time and share them.

That way, you get to try more.

7. Anaheim Fall Weather Makes Long Park Days a Little Sweeter

Anyone who’s spent an entire summer day walking around Southern California knows the value of slightly cooler weather.

Fall in Anaheim still gives you plenty of California sunshine, but as the season moves along, evenings can become much more comfortable for walking around the parks, exploring Downtown Disney® District, or simply sitting outside and enjoying the night.

Layers are your friend. It may still feel plenty warm during the afternoon, while you’ll be happy to have a light jacket after dark.

And after thousands and thousands of steps? That cooler evening air feels pretty good.

8. You Can Make a Fall Trip Feel Like an Actual Vacation

Here’s something we always recommend: don’t make every second of your Disneyland® Resort vacation about checking another attraction off the list.

Leave yourself some breathing room.

Spend an afternoon by the pool. Have a long dinner. Wander through Downtown Disney® District. Sleep in one morning. Or head back to the hotel for a few hours before returning to the parks at night.

That’s especially easy when you’re staying nearby.

Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel is an official Disneyland® Resort Good Neighbor Hotel located less than a mile from the Resort, with complimentary transportation to and from Disneyland® Resort.

Our Dream Machine Shuttle means you don’t have to worry about driving back and forth or dealing with parking every time someone needs a break. Head to the parks. Come back and recharge. Then do it all over again.

9. Your Hotel Can Keep the Fall Getaway Going

After spending the day surrounded by pumpkins and Disney magic, coming back to a castle-inspired hotel just feels right, especially when the Halloween fun continues here.

During the season, Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel gets into the spirit with Halloween décor throughout the property and our Haunted Rose Garden. Take a walk through the garden and see its spooky seasonal transformation before settling in for the evening. It’s one more way to make Halloween part of your getaway, even after you’ve left the parks.

Beyond the Halloween fun, Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel sits on 13 acres of landscaped grounds and gardens, giving you room to slow down after a busy park day. There’s also a swimming pool and whirlpool spa when the Southern California weather calls for some downtime.

And then there’s the room itself.

When you’ve been walking all day — especially with kids — having space to spread out matters. Our spacious accommodations give families room to settle in, unpack, and actually relax instead of climbing over suitcases for three days.

Hungry? You don’t necessarily have to head back out, either. Stop by Garden Court Bistro for a casual meal or make dinner part of the experience with authentic Japanese cuisine at Hanagi Japanese Restaurant.

Sometimes the best part of a park day is finally sitting down.

10. Fall Gives You a Disneyland® Resort Experience You Can’t Get Any Other Time

That’s really what makes fall special.

You can ride Space Mountain any time of year. You can walk down Main Street, U.S.A. in April. You can grab a churro in July.

But you can’t experience Halloween Time whenever you want.

The pumpkins, attraction overlays, seasonal food, Oogie Boogie Bash, Plaza de la Familia and cool fall nights only stick around for a limited time. If you’ve visited Disneyland® Resort before, fall gives you something genuinely different to come back for.

And if it’s your first visit?

Well, you’ve picked a pretty fun time to start.

Make It a Spooktacular Getaway

If you needed one more reason to plan a fall trip, Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel has one waiting for you.

The Spooktacular Getaway is available for stays from August 18 through October 31, 2026, making it a perfect match for a Halloween Time visit. Starting at $209 per night, the package includes a special $10-per-day parking rate, free Dream Machine Shuttle service to and from Disneyland® Resort, and your choice of breakfast for two each morning or dinner for two each evening at Garden Court Bistro. Families will also receive a Halloween goodie bag for two kids ages 10 and under.

And after all that Halloween fun? You’ll have a spacious room that’s nearly 500 square feet waiting for you.

Just keep in mind that Oogie Boogie Bash tickets aren’t included with the package, so you’ll want to purchase those separately if the party is part of your plans.

Check out the Spooktacular Getaway and start planning your fall stay.

Tips for Planning Disneyland® Resort in Fall 2026

A little planning goes a long way during Halloween Time.

Check the Disneyland® Resort app before your trip for attraction availability, entertainment schedules and wait times. You can also use it to mobile order food and purchase available Lightning Lane passes.

If Oogie Boogie Bash is happening during your stay, look at those dates before deciding which park you’ll visit each day. And don’t try to cram everything into one afternoon. Give yourself enough time to notice the decorations, try something seasonal and enjoy the things you can only experience during fall.

Because that’s the whole reason to come this time of year.
