6 Ways to Keep the Disneyland Magic Alive At Home Amid COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic sure has put a damper on our Disneyland® Resort fun — but we’re not letting it snuff out the magic just yet! Just because we’re spending time at home doesn’t mean we can’t all keep the Disney magic alive and well in our hearts. If you love Disney as much as we do and can’t wait for your next Disneyland® Resort adventure, we’ve put together a few fun and exciting ways to show your love for Disney at home — at least until we can all visit the parks and give Mickey a big hug for real!

  1. Have a Disney movie marathon.

Spending time at home means it’s the perfect time to watch your favorite Disney films and TV shows! Relive your childhood favorites (like Cinderella) and introduce them to your kids. With so many live-action remakes (Dumbo, Lion King, Aladdin…) happening, channel your inner film critic and watch the old-school animated version and the remake to see which version you like best! Or maybe there’s another recent film, like “Frozen 2,” that you’ve been dying to watch but haven’t had the time yet. Grab some blankets, popcorn, and queue up Disney+ for the perfect movie marathon.

  1. Make a Disney-themed playlist.

In times of uncertainty and anxiety, sometimes dancing and singing along to your favorite tunes is just what you need. With messages of positivity, hope, and fun, you really can’t go wrong with a Disney playlist full of your favorite songs from classic and recent films. For some extra fun, add music you’re likely to hear around Disneyland® Resort — like the songs from Space Mountain, Fantasmic, and other attractions — to make you feel like you’re on a mini-vacation.

  1. Play some Disney-themed games.

There’s nothing like board games to help pass the time and bond together as a family. Maybe you already have some Disney-themed games at home, like Disney Theme Park Edition Candyland or Pirates of the Caribbean Battleship. If not, don’t worry. You can place an online order or simply make up your own games — like a Disney word search, trivia game, or charades. Thanks to the internet and video chat capabilities, you might even be able to connect with some friends for a virtual game night!

  1. Craft a Disney-inspired menu.

Disneyland® Resort is known for its unique and tasty dining experiences. Treat your tastebuds with some Disneyland® Resort favorites that you can recreate at home — including churros, funnel cakes, macarons, beignets, corn dogs, and more. While it might not be the same as enjoying them at the park (where that little bit of Disney magic somehow makes them taste extra delicious), it’ll definitely keep your tummy happy until you can make your visit to Anaheim. Need some more culinary inspiration? Check out this Disney recipe collection from D23, the official Disney fan club. Keep in mind that many grocery stores offer pick up and delivery services. When planning your menu, consider using those low-contact options to help keep essential employees and your family safe.

If you’re not really into cooking or you just want to add even more Disney fun to mealtime, consider a Disney-inspired table setting! Whether you use coffee filters to create snowflakes to decorate a Frozen-inspired table or you pull out a tea set for your own Mad Hatter tea party, there are plenty of options for Disney table settings.

  1. Get inspired with Disneyland® Resort videos.

Since we can’t be at the parks right now, living vicariously through videos is the next best thing. Thankfully, there are hours and hours of content online that allow you to explore the parks and attractions. Check out the official Disneyland® Resort YouTube channel for a behind-the-scenes look at Disneyland® Park, Disney California Adventure® Park, and more. The official Disney Parks YouTube channel also has some great stuff — including a virtual viewing of the new parade, Magic Happens. Scrolling through the comments is also a great way to feel connected to other Disney fans and get some insider tips for your next Disneyland® Resort vacation.

  1. Plan your future trip!

Don’t worry — this too shall pass. And when it does, we’ll all need a little extra magic in our lives. Whether you’re simply researching what attractions you want to go on or actually purchasing tickets and booking your hotel room, now is the perfect time to start planning your epic Disneyland® Resort vacation.
