With themed attractions, food, and a decorated park, Halloween at Disneyland is sure to be a spooktacular time for your whole family. Although Disneyland is magical all year round, seeing the haunting transformation it makes in September and October is something you should add to your bucket list. We have outlined just a few of the reasons we think you should visit Disneyland this Halloween!
Haunted Holiday Attractions
As if Disneyland’s attractions were not cool enough already, during the Halloween season the park transforms Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion into a spooky experience of a lifetime. Try not to flinch as you soar through Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy with ghostly screams, eerie sound effects, and the occasional phantom popping out at you. Riders be warned, this haunted holiday attraction will leave you shaking in your boots.
If that is not enough, head on over to Haunted Mansion Holiday to experience the Christmas/Halloween mash-up inspired by Tim Burton’s, A Nightmare Before Christmas. As you follow Jack Skellington through the mansion, make sure to stop in the ballroom to see (and smell) this year’s custom gingerbread house.

Take a break from all the Halloween time fun and enjoy some of the spooky sweet treats that fill the park during the holiday season. Disneyland seriously steps up their game with their scary delicious desserts. As you are walking around the park, we bet you won’t be able to resist the Halloween-themed caramel apples, cupcakes, and rice crispy treats around every corner. Whether you’re looking for something sweet or something more savory, you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Disneyland Resort.
As you enter the parks and make your way down Main Street USA, you have quite the variety of treats and drinks. The sweet smell of Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor will have the kids begging for a Halloween Premium cone, but what’s even harder to resist are the pumpkin beignets at the Mint Julep Bar. Don’t worry, that’s located in New Orleans Square, so you have some time to finish your ice cream first!
There are plenty of options for kids, teens, and adults alike to indulge on sweet and savory goodies during Halloween in Disneyland Park, but adults have some extra treats located in Disney’s California Adventure, just across the way from Disneyland. If you have park hopper passes that give you access to both parks, the Poison Apple-Tini, located at both the Carthay Circle Restaurant and the Cove Bar, is a must for adults after a long day (or a short day, we’re not judging you) at the park.
Limited Edition Halloween Merchandise
Just as Disneyland brings out their ‘A’ game when it comes to Halloween treats, they also do not disappoint with their limited time holiday merchandise. You’ll find Disney park staples like a pair of boo-tiful Mickey and Minnie ears and Halloween-themed apparel, but the fun and unique souvenirs specially brought out for the holiday are what you want to keep an eye out for.
Rumor has it that merchandise shops, like The Emporium on Main Street USA, have some new Halloween merchandise items for 2017, including home décor items like jack-o-lantern candleholders and Mickey-shaped wood signs. In addition to new items, you’ll have a wide variety of home décor options to make your home a bit spookier – and magical – when you return from vacation. We know your kids will love eating their breakfast from a plate featuring Mickey dressed as a vampire.
Meet the Characters
Of course, when you visit Disneyland, you are bound to run into Mickey and Minnie Mouse with their friends, and many other Disney characters as you wonder the park. If you take your trip during the spooky holiday season, you will get to see all of your favorite characters dressed in their Halloween best. Don’t be mistaken, the ghosts, ghouls, witches, and vampires walking around the park could be any number of Disney’s cast of characters. Grab your camera and take advantage of the special photos you’ll only get this time of the year.
As if that wan’t enough, Disneyland also calls up friends from Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas and you might bump in to Jack and Sally Skellington while roaming around the park.
Meet the Villains
Halloween is your only chance to meet some of Disney’s most infamous villains. During Mickey’s Halloween Party (separate entry ticket required), head over to Villain’s Square to meet some of your favorite bad guys, like Cruella DeVille, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. The villains are there for special photo opportunities and may even have a few surprises up their sleeves during the party. We know one thing for sure; this is a party you will not want to miss!
