When asked about our favorite rides at Disneyland® Resort, the only right answer is “all of them!” However, we recently took to Facebook to ask our followers (and fellow Disney fans) what their favorite attractions at Disneyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park are. We received the greatest responses and had so much fun daydreaming about Disneyland® Resort with all of you! Since we’re still patiently waiting for the days the parks can reopen, we thought we’d highlight what our fellow Disney lovers had to say and share some of our favorite Disneyland® Resort rides and attractions here as well.
Pirates of the Caribbean
This was by far one of the most popular responses on Facebook, and it’s a personal favorite of ours as well. Pirates of the Caribbean, located in New Orleans Square at Disneyland® Park, is a must when you visit! The truly immersive attraction features a waterfall, cannon fire, and, of course, Captain Jack Sparrow! According to the official website, Pirates of the Caribbean, which opened in March 1967, is considered “one of the most immersive attractions ever created for a theme park.” Riders of any age/height are allowed to ride this attraction. However, there are some small drops and loud noises that may be scary for young children without an adult.
The Haunted Mansion
This is another classic ride we love that many parkgoers rave about. Hop aboard your “Doom buggy” and explore The Haunted Mansion, located in New Orleans Square at Disneyland® Park. From portraits to candelabras, the ride features not-so-scary haunts around every turn. Depending what time of year you visit Anaheim, you may see the mansion decked out for the Hallow-Days, inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. This slow-moving ride is appropriate for kids, teens, and adults. For those traveling with kids, keep in mind that while the spirits are friendly and there’s no gore, the ride is still dark and loud, which can be frightening to youngsters.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
This is another cool, immersive ride that we can’t get enough of. Located in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure® Park, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT features all your favorites, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and Groot. You’re on the front lines to help rescue the Guardians. We love all the awesome special effects and music inspired by the movies! If you’re a Guardians fan — or just like cool rides — this one is a can’t-miss. With big drops, this thrill ride is geared more toward teens and adults. Riders must be at least 40 inches tall.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
What’s not to love about the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad? Located in Frontierland at Disneyland® Park, this runaway ride is a roller coaster attraction that twists you all around waterfalls, falling boulders, and spooky caverns. There are some small drops, but it’s geared for kids and adults (that are at least 40 inches tall). We love park history so we had to share that the miniature ghost town that riders see at the end of the attraction was built before Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, according to the official website. It was originally named Rainbow Ridge and is one of several elements from the Rainbow Caverns Mine Train (later called Mine Train through Nature’s Wonderland) that transported Guests around Frontierland from 1956 to 1977.
Calling all Supers and thrill-seekers! If you like roller coasters, you’ll love the Incredicoaster, based off of loveable characters from The Incredibles series. The coaster is located in Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure® Park and features special effects, a 100-foot drop, and music by Michael Giacchino, composer for The Incredibles 2. As a faster attraction, this ride is suitable for teens and adults that are 48 inches and taller. We love this ride AND The Incredibles so much!
This ride is a blast — literally! Space Mountain, located in Tomorrowland at Disneyland® Park, builds and builds until you’re blasted through space with speed and excitement around every turn. Awesome sound effects and music add to the experience and make this ride feel truly immersive and exciting. It’s definitely worth the wait in line. If you can, try and score a seat toward the front. The ride is dark and fast but appropriate for kids, teens, and adults who are 40 inches or taller.
This is another attraction that, once you’ve ridden it, you’ll want to ride it again and again! Splash Mountain, located in Critter Country at Disneyland® Park, features more than 100 audio-animatronics critters, bold colors, recognizable tunes like “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah,” and, of course, the iconic 5-story wet and wild plunge at the end! Be prepared to get wet and have a good time. The big drop may be frightening for younger kids, but this ride is appropriate for anyone 40 inches and taller.
Of course, this is only the beginning. While we noted some of the top contenders amongst our Facebook followers and some of our personal favorites, we can’t go without a few honorable mentions as well, including…
- Radiator Springs Racers
- Toy Story Midway Mania
- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- And so many more!
The Star Wars attractions are new in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so they should definitely be at the top of everyone’s list. When we said every attraction at Disneyland® Resort is amazing, we meant it. We can’t wait to get back on these rides and welcome all of our friends back to Anaheim and our hotel. If you’re dreaming about your next trip, be sure to check us out. We’d love to have you!
If you’re a Disneyland® Resort pro waiting for the parks to reopen, connect with us on Facebook! We’d love to hear your favorite attractions and experiences. What rides would you add to this list?
If you’re new to the parks, we hope this helped you add some great rides and attractions to your must-do list. Be sure to check out some of our other Disney resources below…
